The battle of
Salamis
The battle of Salamis was the turning point in the war between Greece and Persia. After annexing most of mainland Greece, Xerxes moves his forces into the gulf of cornith and towards greek forces. The battle made Xerxes lose many of his men to the point of the Persians surrendering. After this battle, Greece prevented the persians from moving further into Greece.
The only way to conquer greece was in Xerxes's mind to attack the capital which was athens and ended up burning the city down until greece surrendured.
